The Wizard of Oz
📖 About the Play
Based on L. Frank Baum’s novel and the iconic 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz follows Dorothy Gale as she’s swept away from Kansas to the magical land of Oz. With help from new friends—the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion—Dorothy journeys to find her way home while discovering courage, heart, and wisdom along the way.
This musical production combined timeless storytelling with bold, creative stagecraft to bring the world of Oz to life in a way that was both familiar and fresh. 🎭 The Wizard of Oz – Stage Manager and Spot Op

✍️ Director’s Note
The vision for this production was a classic retelling of The Wizard of Oz, infused with a campy, crafty, DIY aesthetic. Our design leaned into imaginative textures, playful colors, and handmade charm to create a whimsical Oz that felt nostalgic yet personal.

📰 Reviews & Commentary
“We wanted to … think deeper into the actual meaning of the story, so we stripped it to the bone and worked off of there … we wanted to make everything more colorful and extra compared to the original Wizard of Oz”
— co-head of costuming, Addison Burton
“We’re doing a lot with our costumes. For example, our munchkins are going to be sock puppets and our flying monkeys are going to be hot pink”
— actor Kayla Medeiros
